25. - The Nordic Championship Women CS2 played in Jönköping on 27 October 2024 was a celebration of the Finnish CS2 national team. Finland went from win to win in the tournament, winning all of their weekend matches until the final 2-0.
Even though Finland went to the tournament to defend its championship from the previous year, some still felt that the Danish team was the pre-tournament favorite. This was also strongly believed by the Danish team itself based on the interviews given before the tournament. Most of the players in the Danish national team play in Astralis W, so the team did not lack experience.
The Swedish team was also perceived to be strong in advance, but the player changes that took place just before the tournament shook the team’s self-confidence. One of the team’s players, Emma “twodes” Hillbom, left for the tournament with only two days’ notice, but ended up being one of the team’s most fiery players.
However, Finland’s play in the tournament was a strong execution of their own game, and at no point in the tournament did it seem like Finland was in trouble against any team. In addition to strict team play, the Finnish players also turned to strong individual performances when necessary, thanks to which the opponents were not able to take a fairer margin in round wins in any match.
Final results:
- Finland
- Denmark
- Sweden
- Iceland
Norway had to cancel its participation in the tournament.
