CGI Physical Preesens doesn't rest until the championship

CGI Physical Presence celebrating the S12 championship in summer 2024
CGI’s first team won the Kanaliiga PUBG Squad S12 championship with a lead of almost 200 points over the DNA Denarit team that came next. We asked captain Lauri “cnfnd” Venäläinen if winning numbs you and if season 12 was a joke?
“There was no numbness. However, the players in our gang are so competitive that everyone wants to win every game on the server, regardless of the score. The games didn’t feel easy at all and you had to fight for every point.”
CGI Fyysinen Preesens has won big championships before. In season 10, the victory at the Masters series level was wrapped up by more than a hundred points. From season 11, they went for a back-to-back championship, but in the end it got stuck on the last map of the season. Piloted by Finland-PUBG legend CamperBanana, Elisa Aboriginals managed to collect enough points with the last map played to clinch the championship by only seven points. However, the bitter limes of the previous season were wiped off the shirts and for season 12 CGI Physical Presence came with an even stronger presence. How would you characterize the team’s development to the wild championship status of the last season?
“Playing together, being aware of how the team plays different situations in the match. Compared to previous seasons, the most significant difference is the accumulated experience, thanks to which the game has calmed down, the calls have improved and maybe more of a restrained self-confidence in doing things on their own. The players have definitely developed as individuals as well.”
The chicken league teams are made up of players from the workplace, so outside the league the team is not necessarily the same as the chicken league games. However, some of the teams also hold on to shared game moments outside of the league games, and Fyysinen Preesens is one of these teams.
“We also play together outside of the Kanaliiga games, although not everyone can always attend. During the season, we try to play more and last season there was almost a regular shift for ‘training’. Perhaps the most important thing is that the focus remains good during training, and not fooling around.”
The Kanaliiga PUBG Squad S13 is ready to start with just the last qualifiers. The summer dust has been wiped from the processor fans and a record number of teams have registered for the soon-to-be-started season. It remains to be seen whether the increase in the number of teams at the Masters series level will result in a tougher struggle for victory. CGI Fyysinen Preesens starts the new season with only one thought as its guiding star:
“Defending the championship and back-to-back is the goal of the season. There will be no rest before that.”
